DUBLIN (AP) ? Pat McQuaid will stand for a third term as president of cycling's world governing body after winning the nomination of Cycling Ireland.
Cycling Ireland's board agreed late Friday to McQuaid's nomination request but asked him to back a series of reforms at the UCI, including restricting presidents to serving two four-year terms.
McQuaid has been UCI president since 20006. No rivals have yet emerged ahead of the September election.
McQuaid's position has been under scrutiny since a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency report detailed systematic doping by Lance Armstrong, who was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned for life.
